Hello August! After a shaky start to 2020 we are pleased to say we’ve managed to gain FIVE new Zest! clients since the beginning of June! Let’s keep it going!
So 2020 has most certainly been a strange year so far. Something I can honestly say that in the whole of my lifetime - I have never experienced anything like this and it's certainly not something I'd like to go through again once it is eventually over!
Having been running my little graphic design business for over sixteen years, the company had its ups & downs but never anything that has worried me into thinking I could lose it all!
Lockdown literally took away most of the work overnight, as many of the jobs I was working on were exhibition graphics and college projects - all of which were shutdown with pretty much immediate effect. So those projects were stopped in mid flow - all those hours of studio time wasted and all those exhibitions put on hold until further notice.
After a period of not only mourning the loss of work, it was soon followed by the fact that after being advised to furlough myself, zest! graphics (along with many other directors of small limited companies) somehow managed to slip through a loophole within the governments furlough scheme, and were unable to claim a penny! - However, this 'time out' didn’t go to waste, as it gave to me chance to re-assess what zest! graphics means to me and decided it was worth fighting for! So spent this downtime (not only painting fences and decking in the back garden) re-designing & re-building the zest! graphics ltd website. I decided it was time to re-launch and come back with a vengeance - treating it as a Fresh Start.
Time to bounce back!
From the 1st of June 2020 - zest! graphics bounced back with a new mindset, determined to make a push on promoting the company. For over sixteen years as a graphic designer, I’ve never felt the need to advertise as I’ve been kept busy with majority of my work coming via word of mouth recommendation (something I have always been very proud of, and thankful for) and regular, ongoing client-based projects, so I s'pose you could say I got lazy and complacent.
I must admit, all this has come as a bit of a shock to the system, but now I’m over it and enjoying the challenge! The new website is gaining interest, my social media posts are getting ‘likes’ and outside enquiries have been coming in, which is all good. The fact that zest! graphics has gained five fresh and shiny new clients in just a couple of months is exciting too! I’m now looking forward to building on these new business relationships and hope that there are more to come in the not too distant future.
Isn’t it amazing what you can actually achieve in times of uncertainty?
The moral support from my family and close friends has been fantastic and for this I shall forever be grateful. And to top it off by having new clients on-board - I am determined to keep pushing through and not let this beat me down!
